Visit to the Technical Laboratories of ŠKODA AUTO University

— Also a Partner in an Industrial 3D-Printing Research Projectー

On the afternoon of Thursday, September 24, 2026, Prof. Shochi, Vice President for International Affairs, visited the Technical Laboratories of ŠKODA AUTO University in the Czech Republic. The visit provided a valuable opportunity to observe experiments being conducted jointly with ŠKODA AUTO’s headquarters, as well as practical work undertaken independently by students in economics and informatics. He is confident that these activities could lead to joint research with our students and researchers and contribute to significant progress.

ŠKODA AUTO University is also a partner in “TA ČR NCK for Industrial 3D Printing” (2023–2028), a National Centre of Competence project funded by the Technology Agency of the Czech Republic (TA ČR). Coordinated by the Technical University of Liberec, the project brings together more than 27 partners, including leading Czech research organisations and industrial companies. ŠKODA AUTO University and ŠKODA AUTO are both members. The project aims to develop environmentally friendly, energy-efficient 3D-printing technologies, promote the circular economy, and digitise various processes. Within the project, ŠKODA AUTO University works with ŠKODA AUTO to develop and test filaments with special properties and recyclable filaments suitable for automotive applications. It also develops and tests 3D-printed automotive components and accessory parts.

Seeing this advanced industry–academia collaboration firsthand was a great source of inspiration for our university. We will continue to explore opportunities for future joint research that builds on the research infrastructure of the Technical Laboratories.
