2026年9月28日（月）、曻地副学長（国際交流担当）は、本学にとってポーランド初の提携校となるシュチェチン大学（University of Szczecin）を訪問しました。ポーランドは近年、EU加盟国の中でも高い経済成長率を維持しており、公共投資や個人消費の拡大を背景に、EU域内でも有数の成長国として注目を集めています。

シュチェチン大学は、約12,000人の学生を擁する西ポモージェ地方最大級の総合大学です。「社会的持続可能性に関するユネスコチェア」を設置するなど、国内でも研究面で高い評価を受けています。経済学部には、すべての授業を英語で行うコースも設けられています。大学が所在するシュチェチンは治安が良く、学生が安心して学べる環境が整っています。

今回の訪問では、両大学間の学生交流協定に署名しました。この協定により、今後、両大学間の学生交流が活発になることが期待されます。協議では、学部生に加え、大学院生の交流も積極的に推進していくことで一致しました。また、シュチェチン大学での日本語教育の推進に向け、日本学術センターの共同設置についても、引き続き協議を進めていくことを確認しました。

今回の協定締結を機に、本学初となるポーランドの提携校との学生・研究者の交流を一層深めてまいります。

Visit to the University of Szczecin, Our First Partner University in Poland

On Monday, September 28, 2026, Prof. Shochi, Vice President for International Affairs, visited the University of Szczecin, which became Shimonoseki City University’s first partner university in Poland.

The University of Szczecin is one of the largest comprehensive universities in the West Pomerania region, with approximately 12,000 students. It hosts the UNESCO Chair for Social Sustainability and is highly regarded nationally for its research. Its Faculty of Economics also offers a program taught entirely in English. Szczecin is known for its safety and provides an environment where students can pursue their studies with peace of mind.

During the visit, the two universities signed a student exchange agreement, paving the way for more active student exchange. Both universities agreed to actively promote exchanges at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. They also agreed to continue discussions on jointly establishing a Japanese studies center to support Japanese-language education at the University of Szczecin.

Through this first partnership in Poland, we look forward to further strengthening exchanges among students and researchers at both universities.
